I wanted to communicate the emotions and feelings of travel through my audio piece. I did this by utilizing sounds that I found to represent certain locations across the globe, pieced together with airport and transportation noises. In this project, I take the listener to seven different locations, while starting (and ending) them at Denver International Airport. The locations I included (see images below) were Tokyo, Madrid, Paris, the Amazon Rainforest, Nashville, Norway, and Hawaii. I also utilized an aggressive, out-of-place beeping sound as I moved the user from certain locations back into traveling noises to emphasize the stressful-nature of travel, along with how it always seems to feel shorter than anticipated. However, this is strongly contrasted with the duration, calmness, and soft nature of the sounds at the travel locations, primarily to show that travel, although it is quick, stressful, and oftentimes painful, still includes moments of peace and beauty that we must enjoy before they end.
